Cartell Chemical Cultural Sponsorship Review: Yoshitomo Nara Exhibition in Chiayi

Since the opening of Yoshitomo Nara’s major touring exhibition, “Traveling with Hazy Humid Day in Chiayi,” on December 12, 2025, at Warehouse No. 25, Xingang Cultural Center (Chiayi County), the show has continued to attract visitors from across Taiwan—becoming one of Southern Taiwan’s most talked-about cultural highlights of 2025.

From its opening day, the exhibition received significant attention from the cultural sector and local government. The opening ceremony brought together representatives from central cultural institutions, local government officials, the curatorial team, cultural professionals, and corporate sponsors—underscoring that this project is not only an international-caliber exhibition but also a meaningful cultural initiative that integrates cultural policy, local revitalization, and public participation.

As the lead public-interest sponsor, Cartell Chemical Co., Ltd. (MXBON®) was honored to participate in the opening events. With the exhibition continuing to generate strong local resonance, this review shares our original motivation for supporting arts and culture—and how Cartell Chemical contributes, through concrete actions, to the region’s long-term cultural development.

The Chiayi stop of “Traveling with Hazy Humid Day in Chiayi” is jointly presented by the General Association of Chinese Culture (GACC) and the Yoshitomo Nara Foundation, in collaboration with local cultural authorities. Hosted at Warehouse No. 25, Xingang Cultural Center, the venue symbolizes contemporary art entering a non-traditional museum setting—responding to the rhythms and narratives of local life.

The exhibition features a broad range of Yoshitomo Nara’s important works across painting, drawing, photography, and ceramics, including versions of key works created in connection with Taiwan. Media coverage around the opening also noted that the Chiayi presentation is a highly representative stop within the overall touring project—deepening the dialogue between the artist’s work and Taiwan’s local landscape, culture, and community.

Since opening, the exhibition has welcomed audiences of all generations—art lovers traveling specifically for the show, as well as residents, families, and student groups. For many first-time visitors to international contemporary art, this exhibition has become the beginning of a personal relationship with art.

This is also why the exhibition was highly anticipated from the very beginning: art is no longer a resource reserved for metropolitan centers—it becomes part of local daily life.

Cartell Chemical has long been dedicated to adhesive R&D and manufacturing. While our foundation is built on industrial expertise, we do not view corporate value through an industrial lens alone. We believe that when a company is rooted in a city for the long term, it should also contribute to the city’s cultural accumulation and continuity.

Our support for the Yoshitomo Nara exhibition in Chiayi is not a one-time sponsorship. It is driven by our conviction in the public value of culture. Through corporate resources, we hope exhibitions of high artistic significance can be fully realized locally—and that more people can take part in them.

We see a chain reaction sparked by culture—more exchanges, deeper conversations, and a renewed understanding of the city. Cartell Chemical believes culture is a public asset that requires patience and sustained commitment. What companies can do is to stand in the right place at the right time, offering stable support, so valuable cultural content can be preserved, understood, and ultimately validated by time.
